Privacy | VON Policy Summit Canonical page: https://vonpolicy.com/privacy How vonpolicy.com measures visits When you load a page on vonpolicy.com, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) handles the request, and we keep a short-lived private record of it so we can understand how many people visit and which pages are useful. This disclosure covers website visit measurement only. Ticket registration is handled separately. What we record for each request - the time of the request and the page address (without anything after a "?" or "#"); - whether the request succeeded or returned an error; - the website you came from, as a website name only (for example "www.linkedin.com"), if your browser sends one; - your country and the name and number of the network your connection comes from, as reported by Cloudflare; - whether the request looks like an automated program, based on the name your browser or program announces (this can be wrong or faked); - a short one-way code derived from your IP address and browser type, using a secret that changes every day. We use it only to estimate how many different browsers visited in one day. We do not retain the IP address or use the code to recognize visitors across days. What we do not record We do not store your IP address, cookies, login or authorization details, form entries, search or query text, names, email addresses, or any information about newsletter subscribers. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking, and we do not buy data about visitors. How we use it A private daily summary is emailed to the site owner: page views, estimated visitors, popular pages, referring websites, countries, automated visits (including AI and search crawlers where they identify themselves), errors, and, where a network appears to belong to an organization, that network's name. A network's owner is not necessarily the organization of the person visiting (for example, internet providers, VPNs and cloud services serve many organizations), so such information is a rough indication only and is labeled as uncertain. How long we keep it Individual request records are deleted after 7 days. Daily summaries, which contain counts and network names but no individual requests, are kept for 90 days. Who can see it Only the site owner and the people who maintain the site's hosting account. The records are not published and are not available through the site's public data files or its machine-readable interfaces. Your choices and contact For questions about this site analytics, contact jeff@pulver.com. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we skip optional visit logging for that request.
